If so, you are a "HazMat Employer" under the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at 49 CFR 100-185. HazMat employers are required to provide training to any employee involved in the safe transport of hazardous materials, including loading, handling, packaging or preparing for transport.
- generate hazardous waste?
- ship chemicals to customers?
- move hazardous materials in commerce by highway, air, rail or water?
Hazmat employees must receive training at least every three years.
This course will fulfill the General Awareness, Function-Specific, and Emergency Response Information training requirements of 49 CFR 172.704(a)(1)-(a)(3)(i), and explain the company-specific requirements for additional safety and security training. Each attendee will receive a current copy of the 49 CFR 100-185 regulations.
This course is for NON-BULK shippers only (shipments in containers less than 119 gallons liquid, 882 lbs. solids or 1000 lbs. water capacity for gases.)
This course will NOT fulfill the training requirements of the IATA for air shipments; the primary focus of the course will be on highway shipping.
Members: $350.00 + tax
Nonmembers: $450.00 + tax
The South Dakota Safety Council provides training to meet the DOT HazMat requirements, both onsite and at our facility. Onsite classes are usually 3-4 hours, and start at $500 for South Dakota Safety Council Members.
