DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation
Does your company:- generate hazardous waste?
- ship chemicals to customers?
- move hazardous materials in commerce by highway, air, rail or water?
If so, you are likely a "HazMat Employer" under the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at 49 CFR 100-185. HazMat employers are required to provide training to any employee involved in loading, handling, or preparing for transport of hazardous materials; anyone operating a vehicle carrying hazardous materials; and anyone responsible for the safe transport of hazardous materials.
Each hazmat employee must receive training every three years on:- General awareness/familiarization
- Function-specific training
- Safety and emergency response
- Security awareness
The South Dakota Safety Council provides training to meet the DOT HazMat requirements, both onsite and at our facility. Onsite classes are usually 3-4 hours, and start at $500 for South Dakota Safety Council Members. |
