DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation
Does your company:
  • generate hazardous waste?
  • ship chemicals to customers?
  • move hazardous materials in commerce by highway, air, rail or water?
If so, you are likely a "HazMat Employer" under the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at 49 CFR 100-185. HazMat employers are required to provide training to any employee involved in loading, handling, or preparing for transport of hazardous materials; anyone operating a vehicle carrying hazardous materials; and anyone responsible for the safe transport of hazardous materials.

Each hazmat employee must receive training every three years on:
  • General awareness/familiarization
  • Function-specific training
  • Safety and emergency response
  • Security awareness
The South Dakota Safety Council provides training to meet the DOT HazMat requirements, both onsite and at our facility. Onsite classes are usually 3-4 hours, and start at $500 for South Dakota Safety Council Members.
Length: One day

Already offered this term; next scheduled offering to be announced.
