First Aid Training


The South Dakota Safety Council offers a variety of First Aid/CPR courses, including instructor training designed especially for corporate and industrial on-the-job instruction. All of our offerings are National Safety Council First Aid Institute courses.

  • First Aid/CPR Instructor Development Workshop - 4 days
    Prepares you to teach first aid and CPR using the latest methods and materials from the National Safety Council's Fist Aid Institute. For anyone who wants to be a certified instructor to teach first aid and CPR.
  • First Aid in Wilderness/Remote Location - 16 hours
    A highly interactive course designed for anyone who works, lives or recreates in remote or wilderness areas where 911 may not be an option.
  • First Aid/CPR Employee Training - 7 hours
    Excellent for employees who need to know what to do both in minor emergencies, and in the crucial first 15 minutes of a larger emergency before emergency personnel arrives.
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training - 4 hours
    Credited with saving roughly 50% of cardiac arrest victims, AEDs are easy to operate, once you know how. Perfect for employees, EMS technicians, healthcare providers, athletic trainers, flight attendants and emergency response teams.
  • First Aid/CPR for Infants and Children - 8 hours
    Teaches you to prevent and handle common childhood injuries, as well as breathing and cardiac emergencies. Designed for day care providers, parents, employees, community members, youth leaders and any person who is involved with infants or children.
